Unpossible!
I just recieved an AT4033 I bought off eBay, and the little metal ring that holds the capsule in place is broke. Anybody know where to get a new one, or how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Just to be clear, i am talking about inside the mic, with the cover off. The capsule is held in place by a metal band that is around the capsule then screwed into the mic itself.......I'll get a pic in a minute.....

I'd go back on the seller unless you know it was broken. If you did...

Peluso microphone labs sells 32mm and 34mm capsule mounts, so if your capsule is that size and has a pair of screw holes at about 4:00 and 6:00 (on the edge, not on either face), you should be able to use one of those.

yeah, did you buy it broken?

hey- either way, call AT and see if you can get a refurb one for free, since you are a loyal and dedicated customer and love there products. ;)

I bought it used off eBay. I'm pretty sure it broke during transport.

There are no screws that go into the capsule. There are two at the base of the mount, and one that goes thru the two "legs under the capsule that tightents the ring around the capsule. It's gotta be a couple dollar part. Anybody know where to buy it at?

I'll get a hold of AT tommorow I guess.

unless the seller has like 99% plus feedback in the thousands, I'd really assume that the mic was broken in the first place. Even then, I'd consider the packing job by the seller insufficient, and still ask for my money back.

I hope you didn't leave that feedback yet!

The mic was packed well. IF you were here and able to look at how it was packed, how it got here, the condition it's in, and where it broke - you would almost for sure agree that it broke in transit. It's a 10 cent metal band that broke.

I would have the seller file a clame if it was insured through the shipping carrier. If not i would contact AT and ask them how they hand repairs. Some places will do repairs for a flat fee.

It might just be a simple matter of Putting the Capsule back into the mount and tightening the screws at the bottom that adjust the tention of the Capsule mount untill it is secure.......

You could even try a couple drops of glue to see if that will secure it, just ma sure you don"t get any glue on a diaphram....

Good luck

PS: if the Mount is actually broke you might try soldering the mount back together....Just a thought...
