Analyzer?

Is there a way to hook up an analyzer to get some readings while I'm mastering?
Anything will help. Thanks in advance

Someone answer me dammit.

This should be sticky

so it's not so empty and lonely in here for me. Thanks.

Where are the BR users?

Hi Dumby, I'm new to these forums and have been looking around for people using BR1600's to exchange ideas and ask questions. I've had a BR1600 for about 2.5 years now and recently downloaded the latest software update (Version 2.0). What are your current BR 'issues'? Are you still wondering about hooking up an analyser for your mastering? I've just been given a program called Penguin but to use it you have to burn your mastered song to CD then play it into your PC and the eq is analysed in the PC. I havent used it yet but I'm trying to get consistency in song levels and overall sound so when I finally finish the album  it will sound consistant. Anyway ~ I'm interested to hear where you are at with your BR. Any tips, tricks, quirks or questions? So it's not so lonely in here now I hope :) Frambo out

Ya, I'm looking for an outboard analyzer. TO hear where I stand with my BR click on the Regression link.

Hey Dumby, I had a listen to Slog and Displaced Aggression. I used headphones for the first time on my new 1 month old computer (in fact this is the first computer I've had that can handle songs off a website :o ), anyway my computer speakers are tinny and the headphones had a low bass hum (earth?) messing up the sound so I couldnt make an informed comment about how your master really sounds.
I havent figured out how to download an MP3 and burn it to CD yet :o :o so I didnt listen to it through the studio monitors. Can a downloaded MP3 sound the same as your original master ~ do you loose much in MP3 compression?
Anyway, from what I could pickout, the bass guitar has a nice edgy gnarl to it ~ like an angry Fender Precision. I liked the 3rd guitar harmonies in Slog. The drums sounded a bit loose though ~ no offence. I've never done a studio kit mic up and only a couple of basic live drum mic ups (My live sound engineer skills are a bit average :( ~ sometimes the band is justified blaming the soundman  ). I try and find sample loops that fit my songs ~ unfortunatley I often have to compromise the original idea to fit the song to the loops. Sometimes it's better than my first idea, sometimes not. Dont have any sample editing programmes yet.
I saw the photo of the electronic kit ~ did you use that? If not, you got a sweet bass drum sound from your mic.
What's your thoughts on the GR33? I borrowed one for a couple of months and found it useful for synth pads but had trouble with piano sounds (even after adjusting sensitivity and player type) because there was a tiny time delay so I was inconsistant with timing ~ often had to use the cut and paste function on cord stabs to move them into time.
Have you found an analyser to use with your BR yet? I still havent tried the Penguin Meter programme. Regards ~ Frambo out

Mp3's really do not sound as good as an original wav file. You can convert an mp3 file back into a wav format and retrieve some of the sparkle.

I use CDex.

Drums are loose I know, I do a take by myself and I just imagine the guitar in my head...then I actually lay them.
GR33, I could probably live without, when I'm thinking up of a song my imagination goes so far but I never really follow through with it. I hear you on the sensitivity, you have to allign the pick up as best as you can and then in the pedal adjust it string by string. I love some of the sounds but like I said I barely use it lately...it's a phase thing, I'll start using one day again out of nowhere.
