not sure what to do. just make sure that it is either a mp3 or a wma file.

thats all i can think of. maybe try uploading it again a see what happens.

did you see my previous post with the metallica tune i recorded ??

later

I made one with real drums, full solos but no vocals and I will attach it next thread for ya as soon as I know how, my drums are a bit quiet but they sound nice, I did a live take with my TD-3's...CHeck again in a couple days maybe I'll have it figured out...take care

Dude

This is what the attach window says;

Valid file extensions: bmp doc gif jpe jpeg jpg pdf png psd txt zip

This is what I have;

Sandmansoundtest.wma
Invalid File Type

How the heck do I convert it?!?!?!?!??!?!?

Again, I ripped it using windows media.

Calling Gorty and other BR guys

My mastering patch still sucks, but only some days, I'm recording everything at the same levels which are fairly low but I'm hearing so much static in my playback once it's mastered. Feels like I"m back at square one after I thought I had all that crap solved.

Here's the specs on my patch tell me what you would change under general rules. The tune I posted below is done using this patch.

-EQ is off
-Limiter is off
-Cut off Freq. 20hz
-Enhancer On
sensivity 0
Freq. 1.0khz
mix level 0
-Exp is off
-Compressor is on
threhold -9db
ratio 1:3.20
attack 30ms
release 690ms

-mixer 3db
3db
3db

-output 6db
soft clip on
dither is off

Let me know it there are general corrections that seem really odd and obvious nono's

The Mastering patches I use do vary , but generally not a great deal of difference.
I am at work at the moment Dumby, so I will have a look at the settings I use for my instrumental rock tunes.
The Patch I generally use is the "Mixdown" patch and I just tweak a few settings here and there!
I will get back to you Dumby.
The static I think is in your initial tracking, maybe a bad earth on the guitar??? To get the best results you need to track and bounce down with the volumes as close to "0" as possible without clipping. This will give the Mastering Tool the volume it requires to do it's job efficiently!

I will post a reply to this later today!

P.S..Dumby, I couldn't find your tune on Soundclick, maybe check the link you have posted is typed correctly!??

My link is typed correctly I used the one off my signature....Click on the music in the main middle box...I have no graphics so the first page is emtpy
Cheers

What you can do is make your link "hot" so anyone can just click on it and they will be taken straight to your Soundclick page.

Go into your signature (edit) and click on the hyperlink..(the little world with the chain links on) and type in your soundclick link and the text you want displayed in your signature!

I have mine set up marked: Hear Gorty's Tunes Here!....

I just had a listen to Slog No4 on my work PC speakers and without being to analize it too much, I don't think the sound is as bad as you really think it is!

I will have a listen at home on my system though and give you some more input.

How many guitars have you tracked in that piece out of curiosity??

You could try turning the Equaliser on and bring the mids down to deliver a tighter punchier sound to the guitars.

Gorty guy

K, I was listening to my quick cuts there and maybe it's time for me to get new monitors and upgrade in that department. I couldn't hear that static so much on the internent and it was just during Slog 3. Who knows...let me know what you think still. My objective is to have a decent sound before I record all my songs with a proper effort.

One guitar to the left64, one to the right64 both live takes with slightly different guitar patches. The lead is always down the middle...on all of them except test tune. THe left and right take are done live...no pasting
thanks again!
P.S. low mid and high mid...there's freq. , Q and type??? Then I'm done with questions!

With the guitars, Try this: Pan the rhythm guitars hard left 100 and hard right 100, it gives them a lot more breathing space as well as filling the stereo spectrum out a lot more. Try it and see if you can hear the difference.

With the mid frequencies eg: low mids and high mids, select a certain frequency and boost it and cut it and listen to the difference it makes to your sound.

So for example the mid frequency is set at 6000Hz, cut that frequency from 0db to as much as it can be cut and listen to how it effects the sound, and do the same with the boost.
It will give you an audio example of how that particular frequency effects your sound. Then go through and try this with different frequencies, it can be time consuming at first but it lets you hear what certain frequencies target in the sound you have.

See how you go with this, it does help once you get the hang of what I am trying to explain what to do.

I panned the rythms full and full right that does sound better. I always think that if someone has a blown speaker than they're not missing out on something completely! ;)

I re-mastered Slog 2, I played with the EQ's quite a bit(mostly the lowmids, slightly the highmids) and I made a new patch using my old one It's a big improvment IMO. I"ll post it in my soundclick tomorrow it's getting pretty late on this side of the globe. Thanks again for your help and be sure to let me know what you think tomorrow.

Hey Mike, you're welcome!!! :) :)

G-g-g-gorty

K, Slog 2 is done with a different patch. I think I still like the first one because, the guitars are tighter BUT they're thinner...I'm going to do the car test today I usually get the best picture in there. Check it out later.

I like K Slog Remastered!

Is there Bass guitar in there???...I'm listening on PC speakers at work again.
With bass filling the bottom end the guitars on K Slog 2 Remastered cut beautifully. I think I can hear the wider panning of the two guitars!....Are they panned hard left and hard right???

You are getting there Mike!! :) :)
Nice work!

*Note!!...One thing to take into consideration is that Patches can be customised to suit each individuals sounds. I could have the exact same Patch settings as you yet the settings might not be suitable for the sound I am after or the settings might not target specific aspects or nuances as a result of my recording chain.

Thanks, yes there's a bass guitar in there and all of them(not loud enough???).I'm mixing the rythm guitars hard L and R now.
I'm going to do one or two more master patches , I just haven't decided if I want to keep tweaking with my second patch or start from scratch again with my first one. Plus I've listened to it too much today. I need to clean my ears out. Lates
