Not a bad tone at all Dog. Personally, I like the brown sound and wouldn't want it much crispier. And really, to judge the tone fairly, I'd like to hear it in the context of a full mix (bass, vox, etc).

Sounds very good to me on my headphones here at work, but im no expert on guitar anything. Looking forward to hearing some new songs with the new rig.

i'll listen again from home if they ever let me go there again

take care

dOGMAN:

Is a good tone, with defined mids. If you don´t tell us nothing, I would said that you are using a compressor with hi settings.
It´s not easy to comment a instrument "alone". To my taste has too much gain (but i´m not a so "heavy" player) ; then I had the impression of compression and that "punch" could be a little more defided and "controled" with less gain...
But, in a mix is another story, probably works well.

*Stereo sounds good.

sounds good dogman. i think track rat is on to something. with a bass in the mix, i think that tone would sit well. congrats on the new amp.

Thanks all...I'm hoping to get to play with it more this weekend...I need to do a whole song, and see how it all melds. But first, I need to work so I can say I paid for this, Instead of Mama...

:D

Has a nice chunky sound...as is it should fit nicely in a mix. Doesn't have that annoying buzz :o I've heard from some amps ;) Cool.....

;) :) ;) :)

:D

since when do you work? :D

i'll bet if you plug a p90 into that amp it will flat out rock............but you're one of those hummerbucker douche bags are'nt ya? :D

i noticed the short delay thing on the left. did you mic up seperate speakers?

I'd love to hear it in full context. it should cut through a mix pretty nicely. Sounds like it would LOVE 60's single coil MIJ choppers like a Tiesco or perhaps my Bruno - how about you send it over & I'll test drive it. I promise I'll send it back, either that or a hand drawn facsimile of it.

Travis, it was teh same speaker, but one mic, the 58 was on the grill, and the CM90 was a couple of inches away. This was just a haphazard stab, as I simply laid teh mics on a bag my wife had sitting there...

And I definitely use humbuckers.... :p

Rayc..thanks man...I'll send it to you when it blows up...hows that? :D

I started on a whole mix, but haven't gotten a good sound yet, but hopefully soon....

Thanks all.

And, before I forget Dogman (and Travis remember) , congratulations for the new amp !!!

I was swapping monitor amps and had my speaker connections out of phase when I listened to the sound clip. :D

I never cease to amaze myself with each level of dumb assery that i reach.

Don't worry buddy, hopefully you won't cease to amaze us either. :p

No offense, just taking a jab at ya. :)

Sounds like a gritty tone that would hang well in a mix to me :D You never know till you get there, but that's my feeling.

Thanks man...and all...I did a quick one...guitar, bass and drums. Pretty simple, but no real processing. Just some verb to tie it all together....

That's fricken killer! Very heavy tone! I love it!

DO you find a big difference between the 58 and 57 on the guit cab? I have never tried a 58. Sad enough, I don't own one.

I only own the 58, not a 57....this is a 58, and a CM90, panned about 75% to either side. The 58 seems to be a bit brighter, but the CM90 is a condensor, so that may explain why it has more bottom end.
