can't play a lick and this is my first guitar and maybe bass i'm buying. the thing is i've wanted a bass for a while and i started to buy a real expensive jazz bass almost a year ago. everything fell into place and i found a guitar and a bass that i want. but it's a gibson firebird and a thunderbird... bought the yesterday guitar and i was gonna buy the bass soon but everybody says it's probably not for me. listened to it and i agreed with most of the opinions but i don't know jack when it comes down to it. even the type of guys that should be into this type of guitar are like "ahhh, don't do it". now the reason i'm buying is just for me to learn on and have something in my lil studio.

now i feel kinda stupid for wanting to buy the bass cuz it matches the guitar but i like how they both feel. add to that i look at it kinda like an investment because i doubt that the value will drop a dime. plus these are those limited addition guitar of the month pieces. #11 and #12 if you care...

so seriously is a thunderbird really a one trick pony? metal and punk... because i'm willing to try some of that to if it means i can get this bass. lol... i want something useful though and nobody is telling me that the thunderbird is gonna be a wise choice. basically i'm told might be a wise investment but not really a good musical choice.

ny opinions.. ohh and i would like top think i could still pick up a more practical studio bass later on if i find i have talent.

Good enough for John Entwhistle, your friends are jealous.

This is the important part. If it feels good, then I would buy it. If you're not looking for a Mudbucker, then drop a couple of Darkstars in it. If you grow to hate it, you should be able to get your money back selling it.(If bought for about $2K.) Buy it.

My question is... how is this related to the keyboard forum?
