I am extremely pleased with this thing. It's just a pedal, but the various sounds it produces are a plenty! It's so sensitive, just a slight turn of one knob can vary the sound completely different.

Does anyone feel the same way about this pedal?

Also-
Can anyone recommend the best Grunge distortion pedal out there?

Thanks.

generally, there's a lot of people out there who is not very fond of the MT2, calling it harsh and trebly.. however i used one in my setup years ago, and i believe I was able to find use for it, with a bit of tweaks I thought you could achieve an ok tone..

but I think that people are tired of it because of too much of the whole "aNGrY teEn RoCKstAr, cheap bc rich, MT-2 all knobs turned up all the way, cranked park amp with bass/mid/tre at 10/0/10" attitude and sound..

I don't think it is as bad as its rep, use it relatively moderatly..

i have used a d.o.d. grunge pedal thru a piece of shit crate head and 4x12 cab. that grunge pedal made that amp rock. seriously. nice high gain tone, not a scooped sound, good feedback and harmonics. the one i used had a purple crackle paint job. i'd say it's the best cheap distortion pedal i have ever used. the crate amp had a decent clean channel but a horrible distortion channel.

i have used the metal zone too. it was a cool pedal when i was a kid trying to emulate the metallica sound in my bedroom. it did'nt sound so good when playing with a band though. it did'nt cut thru drums well and just sounded buzzy thru a cranked up amp.

Boss DS-1 is always considered a classic for grunge distortion, thanks to Mr. Cobain. The Boss DS-2 is basically a variant on the DS-1. I think it has some sort of "turbo" mode. Anyway....Another one to check out is the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. It actually sounds a little bit like a fuzz, but crossed with a regular distortion. Its hard to explain. I probably just screwed you up even more. :D

Listen to a Mudhoney song, and chances are its a Big Muff. I have it, and I think it totally kicks ass; some would say it is probably not a pedal to use for every single part that uses distortion, although I think it does pretty well in that regard, at least for the grunge type of stuff. It is a great alternative to your normal, everyday distortion.

Have fun.

Now this is just me, but IMHO, I think the grunge pedal sucks, but almost anything will help a crate solid state amp sound better. ;) To each his own.

i can't say that i have tried the grunge pedal on a decent amp but it did make a p.o.s. crate amp sound real nice.

i have a cheapo dan electro overdrive that's not too shabby. $20!
