Boss DR-5 quandry

I spent yesterday afternoon blindly wandering through the functions of my used Boss DR-5 that I just got off of Ebay. I think I figured most of the important stuff out..there's just one snag.

I can record the drum track and track 2 (usually the bass track), but tracks 1 and 3 won't record. is there something I'm missing here, or is my new acquisition damaged? Everything else seems to work fine.

Can anyone help?

Possible solution.

I used to have a DR-5. It's possible that those tracks have their volumes turned down to zero. Check that.

Press Shift and UTIL together and use the buttons to the right of the screen to scroll 'till you get to Mute.The Mute might be ON for those tracks,if it is you need to turn it OFF by using the dial.
