Hi,

will the Boss BR-600 allow me to multitrack songs please? and if so, how - i mean - can you see your individual tracks in a window for example, or can you use your computer's monitor to see what's going on, and to arrange / edit tracks please?

http://www.roland.com/products/en/BR-600/

have been using home pc 'studio software' for several years but driver and program conflicts are becoming a major issue, so i want to invest in a 'stand-alone' multitrack/mixer which yet has pc connectivity.

many thanks

Ric

ps

ps. have been using M-Audio FastTrack as interface with MixCraft which was GREAT while it lasted but is now seething with technical issues :-o

Yes, it will allow you to reord up to 64 virtual tracks - I say 'up to' because tracks 5-6 and 7-8 are stereo tracks and you need tracks to bounce to.
You can record 1 or 2 tracks at once - so if you need to record more it won't work for you. Individual tracks can be exported via USB to your computer and coverted over to tracks for use in recording software, or you can record and mix down on the BR600 and export the finished mix.
The BR600 has a host of built-in effects and a drum machine. Great tool for the solo songwriter/performer.

thanks MJB,

will keep it under my hat for now. it has taken me over a month but i have finally managed to re-set the Fast Track USB by re-installing it, i guess most of us are now hooked on pc audio editing whether we like it or not, but when it does work it knocks the equivalent of analogue recording into a cocked hat, and that's for sure :-o !

can't actually work with drum machines, prefer to add drums to a rhythm track and use a Yamaha DD65. when you get used to it, it can really sound like a real drum kit, quite amazing

am still interested in the idea of stand-alone mixers with usb connectivity though, something i would like to experiment with.

thanks again

Ric

i don't have the br-600 but I've had the br-1200 for awhile now and it is amazing. and of course i upload the tracks via usb too my CPU for mixing and or mastering depending on the project. i see my BOSS as a great tool. it also helps with the monotony of looking at the CPU screen for hours. IMO.
