hey im really new to making audio and i was wondering if there was any books or magazines that really help me learn things. all the things from how mics work, techniques or just anything to do with recording. thanks alot.

there is a thread in this forum titled something like "how does size/polar pattern...blah blah..."
read the entire thing!
dont mistake it for the one titled"are people still reading the how does size/polar pattern...."

Find a good book on acoustics (mine is in storage somewhere, and I can not find it so I do not have a name).

The other book I would suggest is Yamahas Sound Reenforcement Handbook . It is one of the most useful books out there.

I would also read all the stuff in the microphone university at the DPA website.

Neumann also has a good microphone book.

Hope this helps.

There was another Harvey Gerst thread that pre-dated the polar pattern thread.

Harvey edited it into an easy to print format that I printed and put into a binder. Very Excellent.

Do a search for it and there was another link Harvey recomended in the same thread that I also printed.

And they are both almost free just your paper and ink cost!
