Hey hey hey,
I just finished up with a couple more songs for anyone to critique. Let me know how I could improve on the mixing and anything else if you want. Any help would be great.
The first one is 3MB at 128kbps, and the second one is 2MB at 128kbps:

Hey bobbo... can't wait to hear your new efforts but the links didn't work.

Bobbo, good stuff..."Blackbag" Yardbirds meet Dire Straits, huh...It cut off right after the first line about brownbag...was this an upload/download problem ? I wanted more... Not too often you hear lyrics referring to Faust...
"Prodigal Son" had a tink, tink, tink, sound that was sometimes inconsistent that was pretty annoying in an otherwise melodic, crafted song. In the beginning the vocals could be a bit more upfront too...
This is just a personal thing, but the little bell sounds in both tunes kinda made the overall effect of the songs sorta "whimsical", which probably wasn't your intent...these are good follow-ups to "Relieve Me", my fave......gibs

I couldn't get them either... will try again later.

Sorry you guys couldn't get them, I tried and was able to, so maybe Juston is just acting badly. I did do some remixing this morning. Thanks gibs, I know what you meant by those "dings" of the triangle I had on the drum machine. I must have been in a silly mood that day or something. So I took those out and did some volume stuff too. Here are the new mixes. Hope it works for you folks this time, I appreciate it. If it doesn't work, my user name and password are the same, peterd is what you would type.

Listened to black bag...

That last verse was hilarious-
"it's got a kitty in it"

HAAAAAAAAAAA!

The mix was good, the only complaint I have (and it's probably just more of a preference)
but the rhythem guitar has way to much gain. I can't hear a single chord your playing- back off the "more" knob on the amp and let some dynamics (and some notes) come through. Right now it's a buzz saw with out the teeth.

Oh yeah, way better...On "Prodigal" I agree with James HE; the rhythm is louder than the playing from the other ax. I dig the vocals being louder..you did good..and I don't miss the tink tinks.....lol...gibs

d/l'd prodigal son. I think it could use a bit more seperation, mainly the keyboard, pan it one way or the other, seems like too much is riding dead center. It is lacking some midrange. Outside of that, I really like the tune.

Hey, thanks everyone. You're giving me some good ideas. Man, its hard sometimes to be listening to the same song for hours and then figure out if its mixed right. I now know why its a good idea to wait a day or two to mix it down without feeling like a zombie while your doing it. I fired the triangle player gibs, the bastard owes me some money too, hehehe.
I sure like hearing all of these ideas, thanks. Its pretty cool to work on them and try to improve them after they are recorded, which I couldn't do before, and to get your ideas, because I know not what I do sometimes. I'm learning a lot from this site, a whole bunchalotastuff. I write the suggestions down and work on them later, I forget real easy. Thanks again. All ideas welcomed, keep em coming.

Hey bobbo,
listened to both of your tunes - Prodigal Son is by far my fave... excellent vocal work. I couldn't find much that I would change except that the signal is a bit weak - then again, I've been trading some d/l s @ mp3.com, and some of the recording quality is just plain BAD, so maybe I'm not at my best to critique anything else tonight - I'll give them another listen in the morning with a fresh set of ears.

On Black Bag: Same comments, nice vocal work, but I thought that the mix lacked punch, perhaps bringing up the percussion/drums would help - if you have a WAV editor, maybe normalizing or some compression would help the overall signal strength.

I'll give another listen later.

Good work.

I like both songs. The vocals in "Prodigal Son" (mix 2) may be better if they were as loud as the vocals in "Black Bag" (mix 3). Other than that, no complaints.
