BMI or ASCAP???

Don't think I've seen this discussion in a while. I have several friends trying to decide which one to sign up to as songwriters. Anyone care to share their experiences or knowledge?

BMI is who I've been with..Basicly BMI/ASCAP seem very similar..Go To there web sites and check them out..

I'm ASCAP, and I would suggest BMI. Having dealt with both of them (not as a member, per se, but in work related situations) BMI just seems to have their shit wired a little tighter than ASCAP.

And it is cheaper, I believe.

And you have to like any company where the first two letters of their acronym is "BM"
 
Read over both BMI and ASCAP sites. BMI it is. Oh yeah, it's free too. Thanks for the input.

To be honest I've never been apart of BMI, but I can't say I am totally happy with ASCAP
 
I'm an ASCAP member.

No complaints yet.

They're cheaper to join than BMI.

BMI vs Ascap

I just recently got involved with my great-uncle's body of work registered under ASCAP. It's a total mess. Songs are miscredited- receiving royalties to songs not his (but with the same title) and omissions from royalty statements of quite a number of songs. .
So maybe BMI would be a better choice.
 
ASCAP IS MORE AGRESSIVE THAN BMI. I HAVE BEEN WITH BOTH.
IF YOU GET A SONG CUT. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE. ASCAP ALSO PAYS QUICKER.
