Tell me what you guys think of the blue-tube

I just bought one i've tried using it with gain and drive but when ever i use these knobs i start distording. i know they are here for a reason. i would like to know how to use them

thanks

ok

The GAIN knob is for Volume... the DRIVE knob is for distortion ... if you dont want ANY distortion then turn the drive knob all the way down... if you want distortion turn the drive up. I record alot of emo music and alturnitive so with backing vocals alot of artists like having alot of distortion so I put the drive about half way up for a cool distorted voice effect... otherwise if your just recording clean straight forward vocals just have the gain up.

Even with no drive on I have seen (and heard) crunch with the meters well below full level (keyboard DI comes to mind).
Don't use this one much anymore. Wasn't one of my best investments I'd say.

is the Art tube pre amp any good?

You may be overdriving the preamp with that keyboard, make sure you use a line out instead of a speaker level out.

ew gross.

ew yuck bleh gross ! art is worse i believe.

There are MANY preamps that are better than ART for the same price or less. I would avoid those products.

In the same price range, the DMP3 is WAY better sounding than the Blue Tube. I had a BT and now have a DMP3.

I had an identical experience.

The Blue Tube is an excellent paperweight, and a fair boar anchor. It just isn't a preamp.-Richie
