Man, I unintentionally bumped this replying to a five year old comment from Stratomaster, where he suggests just use a capo. Because I am dumb, it never occurred to me people would listen lol. I took another 5 year break, but am just getting back into the game. I redid my setup from the ground up around Christmas.
I totally forgot how freaking cool this group is. It's spooky how spot on the comments are.
Redoing because:
* i really like the idea of the song itself, but the 'finished product' could be a better
* it's a little too short
* it's a little too slow
* my piano was horribly out of tune, that note
papanate mentioned physically hurts my brain

* the guitars didn't flow like I wanted (tried it with the capo and everything made sense lol)
* i liked the bass tone, but not the bass part
* vocal was pitchy in places and hanging notes lol
* I have a better drum mic setup now, I can play drums a tiny bit better now
* I have my piano tuned religiously now, and added a humidification system
* I have piano and drums permamiced so I don't have to constantly shuffle shit around and totally kill the vibe of working on the actual song.
Drums is a little pearl kit I got of the craigslist back in 2016, miced with Cascade stereo ribbon. Any reverb is the room, high ceilings, hardwoods, no treatment
Piano is a Yamaha U3 I got I got of the craigslist back in 2016, miced with Cascade stereo ribbon
Vocals is me eating an AKG 214 I think
Coming out of 5 years of not recording anymore was all egged on by my kid. He's now 24 and a really good musician, songwriter, producer and guitar player. He lives out in Austin and has a pretty cool band.
Anyway, thanks all you are great!!!!
