How would this combo sound? I want to get more overdrive from my Blues Jr. and I hear good things about the Tonelab. I tried the Boss Ds-1 for distortion and i didnt like it with the little Fender amp.

Would the tone lab also give me some other nice amp models and also give me a nice tube sound going through the blue Jr. for recording?

What do you guys think??

All of the experiences I've had show that mixing a modeling device (i.e. ToneLab) with a very colored amp such as a Blues Jr. yield very very bad results. On the other hand, I've gotten excellent results when using very clean amplifiers, such as keyboard amps or amps like the Roland JC120.

The modeler tries to simulate cabinet sounds and tries to compensate for running direct into a PA or recording device. When you run it into an amp, you not only screw up its compensation for the PA, but you also have a cabinet simulation on top of a real cabinet sound. Every scenario I've tried this in sounded really really bad.

well, i bought the vox tonelab and tried it. with the amp as clean as possible it sounded pretty good. better than the overdriven BJ. i then tried it with a fender performer 1000 solid state 100W amp and the results were much better, the solid state fender had a much better bottom end to the sound to begin with and the tonelab just sounded really nice through it so does anyone here want to buy a almost brand new condition fender blues jr in northern NJ?? $300 or bo.
