I tried getting into Sabbath - but it just all sounds comical and cheezy to me. Kinda cartoonish.

Metallica, on the other hand, has always sounded epic and progressive to me (especially Justice). I even enjoy the Loads - I didn't care that it wasn't really "metal", I just love the songs.

St Anger is an acquired taste. I enjoy it, but it's not what I'd consider a masterpiece.

After I discovered Metallica I bought Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, Slayer, Suicidal...I still have all my Metallica records - and not one of the others I mentioned.

Mustaine had a couple writing credits on KEA and 1 or 2 on RTL - nothing on MOP or AJFA - not sure where you got that from. Dave, is that you?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Dave couldnt be this desperate could he?

FINALLY someone agrees, althought I was really disappointed with St.Anger but I heard a song from their new album coming out. ITs badass! The producer of slayer took bob rock's spot and improved Metallica.

Ya I've heard it too. It's still being massaged and arranged. I think it'll be good when the record comes out (unfortunately not until next summer/fall). Rick Rubin actually hasn't had anything to do with them yet. They are in the writing process. They haven't started recording - which is when he'll come in and do his thing. Bob Rock is a hell of a producer, but it's good they are changing it up.

I want to hear some uber production on the next one.

Seeing as you're such a fan - check out my myspace page - where you can see me meeting the band, a dream come true for me.

Excellent shit man....I dig it all...one wouldn't play for me, but the other 3 were kickass.....

So anyways Metallica is better...YUP :D
I will say, Metallica kicks ass.....the worst I've heard from them, is still enjoyable. St Anger didn't do much for me....maybe the production, but also some of the songs were just not that appealing to me...
I know that if I did the song All Within My Hands, I'd get ragged on about the production, and songwriting. Since it was Metallica, they got away with it....

But their new album is going to be alot better. Trust me Ive previewed some of it ;)

Metallica SOLD container loads of PRETTY metal in Australia.
Their other stuff sold by van, trolley and suitcase loads down here.
Most people who bought the "Black" album didn't buy another Metallica one if they listened 1st & if they didn't listen they bought something they played only once. They were after pretty arpeggios & Million Dollar production values NOT the style of Metallica mid to late period metal.
Metallica are sometimes epic sometimes pathetic - I prefer their influences/covers.
I love metal but not the NWOBHMetal, not hair metal, not speed metal, not death metal, not pop metal, not Nu metal, not funk metal, not Metallica metal just Heavy Metal.
My wife REALLY loves the Black Album - I think that says it all.

Hahaha well there goal ,yes money but, also was to get a different crowd to get to know metallica. And alot of people fell in love with them. Whats NWOBH metal anwyays?

Black Sabbath sounds cartoonish? Forgive me for saying this but some of you dip shits will never know real metal. Don't you know that the radio is your enemy?

NWOBHMetal
New wave Of British Heavy Metal - the Iron Maiden, Def Leppard etc years.
Ozzy is cartoonish but with Black Sabbath he was occassionally funny - but that's the point: they had a sense of humour as in "Fairies Wear Boots".
Their music wasn't humorous. It was uniformly HEAVY METAL until Technical Ecstatcy anyway. That's a 1/2 dozen albums in a row that set, made &/or met the mark in the genre.

Without Sabbath ...

I love Black Sabbath & I really enjoy Metallica , loved thier music 89% of my life , but your poll should compare contemporaries , not to bands that , I'm sure Lars or Kirk would agree , inspired them to be so great and re-inventing an un-killable art form .
