you know firsthand I can't keep my foot off the damn wah!I will try to make it play nice in a future mix, though.Thanx for listening!

On the off chance that there is any confusion, I like the wah and the playing. I was trying to introduce the idea of panning the track to the left and cutting the db level some so it wouldn't be so dominant in the mix. If you got that and I'm confused to think you were confused then..............well, you know, procede.......

Just wanted a chance at being clear.......:)

beezlebubba, no no man, please keep your foot on the wah!!!
its the volume man. the song kicks ass!!!

theron..... sorry if i misquoted you:confused: alright, im going back to being plain old sonically challenged fenderlikin now:D

peace and rock and roll!!!

Guys,no misunderstanding!Just some self depricating humor.I value any and all opinions, and will scrutinize anything that I may have missed from being too close to my own song.

Fair enough,

I was just making sure. Your song kicks and the mix has ample gas to ride it home......

theron..... sorry if i misquoted you alright, im going back to being plain old sonically challenged fenderlikin now

Hell Naugh!!! No misquote at all dude.

If you've ever any time, check most of my posts from my first.

I've always been sonically challenged but, I say what I hear anyway..........it's about time you let your ears do the typing:D
Your earnest interest and steadfast attention is more than enough reason to speak up

:D

Ya know,I hung out with this dude in person for 36 hrs,and this is the most conversation I've ever had w/him!Good to talk to ya,man.
p.s.,this man is a fine drummer!

Well...

I'm about as far from a metal fan as you can get, but you've certainly done a nice job, performance wise. I agree with the consensus, the drums are a bit upfront in the mix, and the bell ride is a bit pronounced within the kit balance. I caught 3 or 4 sharp transients, going into the bridge each time, that clipped off on you.

<some SERIOUS freakin' shredding in here dude, terrifically ominous, sinister sound you have!!>

I like the very strong 5ths theme you have going in the arrangement, suggested in the guitars and mirrored in the vocal harmony. Usually, parallel 5th movement is verboten in vocal arranging, because it sounds so sparse and relatively atonal, but when used for effect like you do, it's, well, bodacious. :)

Other than the drums being up front, the vox being a bit underneath, and there being a slight imbalance between the rhythm guitars (you could get away with panning them harder away from each other, it would declutter things and help the ear isolate each part), you've got a winner.

Well done!

Cheers!

If only I were educated enough to know what you're talking about!I'll take your compliments in stride, though, and you're critisism for future mixing!

:D Hey, sometimes, the best sounds come from ignorance of the academic esoterica, you don't know the rules so you're not sheepish about breaking them!

A beautiful thing, innit? :)

I knew there was a metalhead deep down inside ya Dan!Think you could throw some screamin' mandolin solo's over this stuff?
I'll say hi to the old man for you guys.

didnt read any comments

good tune beez.. I thought it was going to be Zeppelin

There is some crackling in the intro.. Maybe the Wah didn't need to go all the way through the whole song.. smoking guitar leads @ 3ish.. sounds like you were going for an Alice type thing.. (something off Dirt maybe)

I like the guitar harmonies too..

there's some minor vocal things, but not too bad.. The guitar sound was o.k.

Nothing major that is wrong, but several little things that I can't put my finger on..

I really liked it overall though..

Change the song title!

BLACK DOG-

BLACK DOG-
nice and weird.....
like the wah parts......
a touch of AIC........it's a bit derivative, both in the lyrics and the arrangment... but i'm a AIC fan, so i don't mind!
i like the drums, a touch more low end on the kick would be nice....
bass sits well in the mix, good roll-off on the very low end, and high end....
Good job on the vocals, the harmonies drift a bit in the second half, but i'm not sure that's an effect you were going for........
guitars have a nice thick overdrive, i'd be interested to know whether these were miced parts, or some kind of sim.......
it works, whatever it is......

Sorry if you were misled Black Sabbath! The song is about depression(Churchill refered to his bouts w/depression as his "Black Dog").Maybe I'll clear up the confusion and call it"Manic Depression".That'll be less misleading!:D
Thanx for listening Gonzo-X!Believe it or not,I've never owned an AIC album, but I've heard enough on the radio to be influenced, for sure.To me,they're an evolution of Black Sabbath!
Guitar is just my mutant custom jobbie through a Korg A6 processor(circa1992),doubletracked.
