I said this:

My experience (take it with a grain of salt) of the preamps from worst to best:

Behringer
Mackie VLZ
DMP3

I have not heard the Spirit M series or the Mackie dfx.

...The Spirit M series pres seem to get the nod over the Mackie VLZ pres slightly, and the Spirit EQ is much more musical than the Mackie, or so it has been reported by a few sources on this Board and in the reviews I have read.

Remember, I said I haven't heard the Spirit pres, but they are supposed to be the same basic pres used in the Ghost consoles (that's what has been advertised and reported). So my guess is that they are comparable, in quality, to the DMP3 pres, maybe better, I don't know.

Do a search for the Spirit M-Series on this BBs and see what you find. Maybe post a new thread describing exactly what you will be recording and ask for opinions regarding which would be the best setup for your needs.

For me, I usually only record voice or acoustic guitar, so the most mics I use at once are three. Also, I don't use outboard effects, and I have software eq, compression, reverb, etc. I also have a Meek VC1q which has compression and nice eq. So I don't really need a mixer. But your needs may be different. Definitely get some more opinions.

yea i have a mixer now, and i dont really do a lot of live work. i would prbly sell my mixer if i were to get new pre-amps. but yea i guess i'm kinding leaning towards the spirit mixer. but im not really looking for features...im more likely looking for the best possible quality sound. so i dunno..

and if i were to do live work, i guess i would jus get liek a 4 channel behringer mixer just for vocals...
