I love cheap guitars. I have a room full of them. Washburns, Corts, Fernandes. I have a friend who got his '57 Strat stolen right off the stage at a gig. I would never take an expensive guitar out after that, and learned the same things you have. Technique makes a guitar sound good. That looks like a sweet guitar and once again I am green with envy!

the guitar showed up today and it is a beaut. It plays real sweet and sounds great. I am thrilled with the quality I got with the money I laid out. I will surly buy more of their guitars for the same money if I come across ones I like. Their is a nice tiger top cheap on ebay now but I am out of dough, gotta buy a truck.

Congrats - nice to hear that the guitar plays as well as anticipated. Score one for dragonworks ! (Fender 0) :D

Just be sure that it's not a Chinese forgery of a SPG.

It's hard to tell....does it have the 3 screw truss cover?
:D

Don't laugh. On their website it says all their guitars are made in New England, this one has a sticker on the back that says made in Korea?

Excellent - glad it worked out for you. That is a very cool-looking guitar. :)

The chick on their website is driving me nuts :D
Me too. I'm going crazy trying to figure out what the original face looked like before they plopped a photoshop on top of it. :D

It's cool. Here's a quote from SPG's web site:

"SPG Guitars (aka StarPower Guitars) started in January 2005 originally as a guitar importer for other well known guitar companies in the United States. During the first two years of the company, SPG imported thousands of guitars from Korea, China and Taiwan. This also included 21 different models of the very popular Ready-To-Paint Kit Guitars that SPG sold directly.

It was always a vision for SPG Guitars to have its own line of USA made guitars and to move in a direction of offering a true professional players guitar. In November of 2006, under the direction and craftsmanship of Master Luthier Eric Brown, the SPG Custom Shop was born. "

Oh, shit. Not again! :D

I emailed them and they replied "the ones we are selling on ebay are special editions that we have made in Korea." I don't care, it is a beautiful guitar and plays and sounds as good as any 1000.00 dollar guitar I have heard and it looks better. They sent a gig bag with it that they didn't even mention. The shipping was 39 bucks, very reasonable for ebay. There is a tiger top on ebay now, I guess it is Korean. The bid on it is 9.99 with two days to go. Reserve not met. They hadn't had reserves on the last few. If I didn't need to buy a truck I would be bidding on it. Don't expect it to go for more than between 150.00,250.00 and if it is anything like this one its alot of bang for the buck.
