I know very little on the subject, but. I use a dual rectifier, with a 4x12 cab. The sound I'm after is different than yours, but I think I sounds pretty fat, excluding the room which I will be attending to. I use a single sm57 about 1" in from the edge of the speaker pointed about 20 degrees off axis. Sounds good to me.
