I'm not sure if you guys have heard. Sonic Foundry has put out a free Beta-version of Sound Forge 5.0 I just downloaded it, but have not tried it yet, so... The verdict is out. See SF's website. http://www.sonicfoundry.com

Got it and took a quick glance. 24-bit support, finally (and 32-bit IEEE floating point, whatever that is). CD ripper and CD creation, as well. The beta includes pretty much all the SF effect gizmos, and they seem to be updated versions. The interface behaves same as 4.5 so far, so small learning curve for me. The demo says it expires in March.

4.5 has been close to rock-solid for me... lack of 24-bit support has been the only real downside. Since it's been my primary editor for a while (Wavelab is great but I never got along as well with the interface), I'll give it a pretty good workout before the trial expires. I know I'm going in biased, but I doubt I'll be disappointed.

Another upgrade, more features... more money... damn. I need to check it out though. Thanks for the info & link Rev.
