whats the best way to set up the presonus firepod cause the manual doesnt really explain it as much. and where should i plug in my mic at? in the slot that says mic/instrument or the slots that say mic/line (i only have a mic to plug in for now). is it best to set the gain up until the red light flashes and then back of a little bit?

just plug it into the number 1 slot, it will be fine there. then run a firewire cable from the firepod into your computer. as far as gain have it at a safe level. u dont want to be anywhere near clipping. u can change the levels of the track in your software.

Right at the Presonus site:
http://www.presonus.com/firepod.html

Look for the diagrams at the bottom of the page.

As far as the clip lights, you won't want them to constantly be lit (as I think you know). You should be able to use the meters in your audio application to assist you in setting proper levels.

Your mic(s) can go into any of the eight inputs. Inputs one and two can also take a line in from a guitar.
