going out on a limb here, but imho, ringo is the most overated drummer i can think of

I have no idea what you are talking about, Ringo is very underated! anyway... I was talking to one of his more recent guitarests (Steve Dudas) and he told me that there is NO ONE to play with like Ringo Starr. He said you couldn't get him to get off beat if you tried.

Hey nezpierce

Yes there are some great drummers here down under.

The INXS drummer is Jon Farris. Andy is the keyboard player.

Virgil Donati is an absolute monster. Caught a workshop session of his a couple of years back. Man, what a buzz.

I know some of the Men at Work guys personally. In fact the bassist, John Rees, lives literally 2 mins from my studio. We jam with him regularly.

But Rob Hirst always has been, and always will be my idol.

Oh My God. That woman from the White Stripes is, perhaps, the worst drummer I have ever heard on wax.

ditto. i can't believe that post was actually serious, i hope it was a joke. i think my cat can play better. the drum sound on their stuff is pretty decent, but the playing.....

You know everytime I need a fresh idea I just go back and listen to 10,9,8.....

He rules! in fact I was so psyched when INXS and Midnight Oil announced that they were going to tour here last summer cuz it was a drummer extragavanza, but it got cancelled.....

nP

Jamming with the bass player from "the Men" how cool is that?!? (the answer: VERY!) How cool it would be to break out a little "Overkill" or "it's a mistake" !

the same goes for a drum machine, this is where the drummer/musician divide comes in...... if some one put me on an i.v. drip i could keep the same beat for six months straight, but thats not what real drumming is all about, i have no doubt that if the beatles were to "arrive on the scene" today, they'd be using a drum machine. not to take anything away from ringo, he is good at what he does, it just that what he does isn't great...

a couple more u/rated drummers
