Hello,

I've been using shure 58's and 57" for years. I thought I'd give some others a try, perhaps even a condenser mic.

Does anyone know anything about mics like the Sennheiser E855 or the Audix OM-5 or OM-6.

Thanks,
Rusty K

My guess is that the Neumann KMS 105 is generally the highest
regarded by the "pros". I have 3 hand held stage mikes; the
Shure Beta 87a condenser (better clarity/top end than SM57/58),
Sennheiser e835s (cleaner than SM57/58-less bottom),
and AKG D790 (my "loaner" mike-too much bottom unless I'm
singing "Old Man River"!).

Based on info from another bbs, Studio Projects is planning to
come out with a hand held condenser in the future.
It could be a great "bang for the buck" like the the C1.

We have the sennheiser E855 and use it for live performances ( female vocalist ). I really like it, we have an E845 as well and you can really hear the difference in our rehearsal room. I must be the only person on this board who doesn't have much experience of the the 57s or 58s ( expect when they are used by soundmen in bigger gigs situations, but its kinda hard to judge then ). Anyway, I can't give you any comparisons, as I haven't owned many mics, but I will say that I have used it to mic two different guitar amps, and have been delighted with the results.

Well worth the money in my opinion.

pAp.

Thanks guys,

I'll look these I'm not familiar with up on the net.

I'd still like more input from anyone familiar with stage mics.

Thanks again,
Rusty K

AKG 414 goes with a phenominal, warm sound. I'd recommend it any day.....compared it to several mic's in the studio, including tubes, it did pretty damned good.
