Got any favorites?... just for drum patterns... complete popular songs....

Lately I've had pretty good results just doing a search on Google -- for example, I wanted to see if there was a MIDI file out there of "Song of the Wind" from Santana's Caravanserai, so I typed "Santana MIDI" as a search string...

I had one or two I liked enough to bookmark, but that's on my home PC -- I'm at work now.

By the way, the quality of what you find can vary widely, from truly dreadful and unusable all the way up to ones that sound almost like the real thing if you had good enough synth voices...

That's why I started this thread, only I've yet to find a good one. I would really like to find some rock stuff with accurate drums.

I've been doing the exact same google thing. I've never really wanted midi files before, but I started thinking it'd be a great way to learn.

Anyone?

I'm home now, but the only one I had bookmarked has been defunct for a while...

man this forums' dead. LOL.

cue massive reverb: "Is there anybody out there?"

My first post so please excuse if these are duplicates of some previous information here.

After much searching for drum tracks for midis and not a lot of success, here are some bookmarks which I have:

A drummer's page: http://vtg.org/cimonline/

A resource page for drum patterns and other things http://home7.inet.tele.dk/js/musik/740pages/link7410.htm

CD to buy with drum loops for Sf2 users:
http://www.harmony-central.com/Newp/2002/Junebugs-Drum-Tools.html

Midi samples (lots) of Afro drums to download free: http://www.afromix.org/music/midi/drum_patterns/

The software you can use to cut and paste the drums into your midi files free at:
www.jazzware.com

Some good download sites

Just to add a few more sites to the list...

Good drum beats (jaz, latin , world) can be found at:

www.synthzone.com and
www.nowopen.com

There's also a guy in Sweden with some great jazz tunes you can take apart and use for practice at: www.josefhuber.com.

Again, a simple Google search under "midi download files" will yield lots of stuff; some better than others.

Good luck!
