In fact (I'm listening to it now) ALL the drums on this album are freakin amazing!

I always liked Joy Division's snare sound. Also The Ventures.
Oh, and Ed Cass Cassidy from Spirit.

Carter Beauford's drum on

"When the World Ends," on the DMB album, "Everyday"

Just very crisp; you can hear every single ghost note.

Thats a good one, but go back and listen to 2step off of crash. Really listen to the way the snare is panned. I dont know if they used two mics, or just went nuts with the pan, but all the ghost notes appear on the left of the spectrum, and the main back beat notes are in the right. Totally blows me away. Still cant figure out how they did that.

Ian Paice "Come Taste the Band"

I realize it's analog to digital but, it's got whack, and roll.

Another radio friendly one.

I'm kind of digging the snare sound on that 'Robert Randolph & The Family Band' song.

:)

Dave Clark...

Early Dave Clark V ... That ringing brass rimshots... Think of the recording techniques then in the early 60's. Still an amazing "recorded sound" today.

Pink Floyd-The Wall. Greatest snare sound yet. Totally crisp and punchy.

Which particular songs? There is a myriad of snares/tunings on that album...

well....any weckl or patitucci cd will sound good snare wise.
everything that ive heard bernie kersh from mad hatter studios do is amazing.

I agree!

MINERAL!

Band: Mineral
Album: EndSerenading
Song: Palisade

Produced and Engineered by Mark Trombino babY!

APPLESEED CAST ARE HELPING ME WRITE RIGHT NOW!

I just got ALL the things I need to start REALLY recording, and more than any band out there right now, APPLESEED CAST are influencing my songs. Even though I like Mineral better. I am listening to "The Last In A Line" from Low Levek Owl 2 right now! They are awsome!
Later,
Rob

Hands down I think Led Zeppelin's 'Moby Dick' is the best snare sound i've ever heard

Comfortably Numb, Another Brick in the Wall pt2, Hey you, Run Like Hell.

I don't think the best sounding always has to be the crispiest or the brightest.....

Listen to Levon Helms sound in Big Pink or the brown album....

I do think the dyer' maker snare sound stands out....

I'm a big fan of a big bright snare with plenty of room sound, so my pick has got to be The Breeders Pod album.
Also a close second is the snare that Grandaddy get on most of their songs.
