ANyone know any in the U.S?
Bitch to find these mics here.

I'm just guessing, but I'm almost positive Sweetwater has them. I have a 160 and was looking for another a while back, and they listed them for around 3 1/2 bills, or so.

not US, but go here if you don't have a problem with importing them directly:

http://www.musicians-gear.com/

on ebay.de you can find them dirt cheap, too. Just have to find a seller who ships internationally

Well, Sweetwater wants $600, and musicians-gear only asks $260. Thats a huge difference. Shippng and importing and all that shit is about $40 I believe. If I'm not mistaken, they take 17% off the $260 for U.S. orders. Thats half price, less than $300 for a high quality ribbon mic.

My god,
thanks for that tip Kuhn! I didn't know we had such a good online music store in Europe! These prices are way below the Swedish retail prices - and not only because of the different sales taxes (25% in Sweden). Are there any other good online stores you know of?

BTW; sorry to report that Sweden just beat Germany in the netball finals of the European Championship. :D

Cheers

Tubedude,
have you ever tried these Beyer mics? Do you know how they compare to more expensive ones like Royers and Coles?

Thanks
/Henrik

Beyer and Royer, Coles ribbons

I have recorded on the Coles 4038 and own the Royer R121 and Beyer M160. Used mostly on fiddle and mandolin, I find the Coles and Royers superior in most every way.

Having said that I just sent the M160 to Steven Sank for the 77DX reribbon. I'll let you know how it compares when it gets back.

Pete
