best phones for mic placement?

I walk the line
Something that has both excellent isolation AND relatively flat response, and hopefully volume too. Not for tracking, or monitoring or mixing. Just mic placement. I'm hoping to minimize trial and error time for placement.

The Extreme Isolation Headphones recently underwent a re-working. Improved drivers, better mid and high detail, and they thinned out the ear cups big time but still retained isolation within 1db (info I saw showed 28db of reduction vs old 29db). They sound better than the originals and are worth hearing too.
