I can no longer use these cheap computer speakers to make demos. I need real monitors. What are the best for the money? I can spend about $400

Now I just have to find a way to get a recording done! I have been researching every possible way to set up my studio using what I have and deciding what to buy. ADAT or Harddisk, PC or MAC, MOTU or Pro Tools. This is really starting to suck!
Have you bought anything yet or still deciding?
I don't have the computer yet, because I am going to build it specifically for what setup I decide on. My budget is not all that large, but significant enough that could probably go the MOTU route or equivalent
Please don't make fun of all my Behringer stuff!

not really. If the monitors cant produce low-end well, its smart

If you have a treated room though it can sound tight and extend your low end.
