The ABit KG7, if you can find one.

This turned out to be THE most stable board I've ever used. It beats the CRAP out of the VIA junk I've had to deal with over the years.

The AMD 760 chipset is miles ahead of the VIA in terms of stability and driver quality. Win2000/SP2 has full embedded support for the VIA AGP, and the AMD driver pack for AGP works flawlessly.

This board will support an AMD 2100-XP which is $125 or less at newegg.com as of this writing. The price will continue to drop as the 2800-XP hits the market.

Computers are my business, and I put KG7 boards in all my client workstations and servers. This board is also getting hard to find, as it is now at the end of life. There does not appear to be another AMD chipset product available, except in multi-processor boards. Damn.

I'm looking at testing the ABit KD7 which is a VIA KT400 powered board, with the newly revamped 8235 southbridge chip. Hopefully VIA has goteen their act together and fixed the CRAP they used to put out.

ASUS A7S333. SIS 745 chipset, works fine with Delta Products.

Hi,

How would you rate an EPoX 8kTA3? I'm having all kinds of madening glitches while tracking and the motherboard is about the only thing I haven't upgraded.

I'll second the kg7 thumbs up. The system i run vegas on is so solid I've never even thought about it. Huge contrast to this time last year with my kt7 or worse my old tyan trinity...uggh.

Well I tried to get a KG7, impossible...
the forthcoming KT400A seems to be well ahead the competition, so bgavin, let us know when you've got more details on that one. I would tend to sacrifice stablility for the sake of performance, but maybe it's silly after all. It's a sort of madness I have about getting the best performance/money ratio.
I'll stick with the ol'shitty KT7 till Xmas, wait for the DDR-SDRam to get cheaper in january, I'm broke anyway for the moment!

I'm just tracking things for the moment, I'll only need more power when I reach the mixing/mastering stage.

thanks folks for ya tips! keep it rockin'

Best Atholon MOBO

I just ordered a KG7 from justdeals.com. On their website they said they had 67 of them in stock. They didn't have a particularly great rating on resellerratings.com but I had been looking at the KG7 a couple of months back and Newegg wanted $69 and justdeals is selling them for $47.77. I'm just holding my breath and hope that I get it.

Asus A7M266 - AMD761 northbridge (1,4GHz cpu). ROCK-solid.

Just ordered a Soltek SL-75DRV4 with VIA KT266 chipset (with XP2200+ cpu) . A guy I knows is running a 3 STAudio C-ports with 2ms latency studio on it (30in/30out with headphone mixes,... the works :) ), and read some nice reviews on the board. If anyone is interested, I'll post a review of it as soon as I get it.

I just build my PC with a Soyo Dragon Ultra, KT333 chipset, so far it rocks with 1 Gig DDR 2700.....I still have to use it extensively to be really sure that it will still be as good as it is now......
