Best Laptop

Due to the importance of mixing, adding effects, and mastering with software I've decided to save for a new laptop and I'm filled with questions. Firstly, which type of laptops are best, HP, Dell, Macbook, etc.? Secondly, which software for laptops is better, Mac OSX, Windows XP, or Windows Vista?

There are so many types of recording software, computers, and computer software, that I'm just so confused about what works best with what. Please help me because I know close to nothing about computers!!!!!
 
I've been looking for a laptop myself, and as far as I can see nearly every Dell laptop has massive DPC Latency problems (Studio, Studio XPS, Precision, Latitude). Its all over notebook forums. This means even the best external soundcard running on a latency of 0.1ms will experience latency due to the internal structure of the computer. Really annoying.

So my advice (from someone desperately searching for a laptop as well) would be stay away from Dell. Its a shame, cause dell are cheap!

Although I am still not sure if I trust the Studio XPS.

All windows base Laptops have a latency problem.If you want a laptop without latency issues,Get a Mac.
A windows base laptop is what you make of it.My Laptop,an e- machine model M6810,no latency whatsoever,running all asio software,Reason ver.4,Logicplaintium,Samplitude producer,laptop also doubles as a video capturing and editing machine,No problem.
windows xp pro64 bit,service pack 3,2 gig worth of memory.And please,Tweak the thing for Audio purposes.For sound card I use a simple tascam 122,again,no problem.

You've gotta be kidding me... Your bot almost got the subject of this thread right - back to the lab to work on that AI, comrade - beats the hell out of actually doing some honest work for the billionth of a penny you get each time somebody clicks your sig...

Cool man. Thanks for reporting this. We try to stay on top, but some get by. Just keep reporting 'em when you see 'em.
