--Macbook PRO

--Plug Guitar straight in (with high OR regular output pickups, but especially high like EMG 81 actives)

--Use Line 6 Pod xt line output (+4db L and R stereo output)

--Don't really need mic preamps, but would be better than not

I am strongly leaning Apogee Duet 2 . I like Apogee stuff because from looking through the manuals of Apogee, RME (babyface), MOTU (Audio Express), Sound Devices (usbpre2), and a few others, but those listed definitely, and online reviews, the Apogee looks like the easiest to grasp and learn your way through. The MOTU stuff, and this is from a few manuals, looks like pure hell/ confusion/ disaster prone learning intuitiveness etc.

Can't you use the XT as an interface?

Yes, good point

BUT, I am also planning on getting Amplitube 3, so I need to be able to go straight in with my guitar(s) sometimes. I also like hardware modellers and future ones may not be so friendly like the PodXT, so I also want to be able to send a line level stereo pair in.

ALSO, I plan to put some of my CD's onto my laptop and want to use it as a home stereo with my monitors, so an interface will also output to my monitors and connect to my monitors in a better way in general.

Thanks

It's not heard to learn how to use them Don't get a simple interface just because it's intimidating. Get something that will last you a good 4 or 5 years that gives you some room to grow.

I like the Alesis USB 2 series and the Tascam 1800 for inexpensive interfaces.

I saved some money to get a macbook pro and would it make sense to buy that and then get flea market special interface? Not being a d*ck, but see where I am coming from?

I use M-Audio Fast Track with my Macbook Pro 13" early 2011 version.

It works flawlessly with Logic Pro 9.
