Absolute favorite SW compressor, ReaComp.

I also love the RNC and RNLA from FMR. I know you are not looking for HW, but they are hard to get along without.
 
I have blockfish and never tried it. Guess Im gonna have to try it

My newest favorite compressor is the one in Native Instruments' Guitar Rig2. Love the sound of that nasty mofo!
 
this badboy is what I use for whole mixes and it helps making it louder and touching up or mastering if you would. It works great for instruments but you can also use the regular Sonitus compressor. I just like this one because it doesn't have the pump effect. After using this and then a limiter, oh man...your mix is LOUD.
