Yo CUBIC in TRIPLICATE:

I've already told you: I've got ash cans, beer cans, can cans, and coffee cans: But, a good set of ear cans would be the Beyer 250's.

I've got AKG cans, SONY cans, and afgans. But, I like the Beyer cans. Durable, well built, and CLOSED.

But, if you use the search button, you get the biggest CAN of cans you can imagine.

I know, but I want to consider all my options... The Beyer's seem a little more expensive than the Sony 7506's...

And just out of curiosity, what kind of music do you make? :)

Holla...

Yo cubes in triplicate:

I like most types of music. I'm probably influenced a great deal by blues, jazz, and I have a penchant for some classical stuff. I started doing gigs when I was in high school and have been playing around with music for quite a while.

I once heard the Electric Prunes play in a local watering hole and had to leave as the guitar player's amp was so powerful that it made my ears throbe -- but, their music was interesting.

I work with some vocalists who do all kinds of stuff; usually we use CD background music which is piped into the recorder and then, Voila, the singer sings, I record and later do the mastering.

I used AKG cans for a long time but they began to fray at the edges and that's when I got a pair of Beyer cans. There are many good cans out there and the price is right on many models. Read somewhere in this site about a dude in Switzerland who really likes some type of Phillips' cans @ a cost of 30 US dollars.

I do much overdubbing with my synthesizer which is set up by a Boss 770 drum box. That's my story.

i like my sony 7506s, picked them up for around 90 bucks

I use 7509's.

Better (fuller) frequency response than the 7506's, they can go louder too...

how much louder do you need to get?? im not particularly fond of eardrum rupturing tracking...but then again, id like to be able to still hear when im 25.

SCB,

I am primarily a live engineer. Am I excluded from the dixcussion? :)

Any transducer system should be able to maintain a consistent (linear is preferable, but most don't start out that way anyways) frequency response over a wide dynamic range.

Most times, I can put 7506's / 7509's in a dinner club environment with a band playing, and not be able to hear with any degree of definition of what's going on in the cans.
