Best budget non tube pre amp?

Out of interest do you have the trackmaster or the trackmaster pro??

I couldn't believe that they were doing away with the original model in favour of one with glowing bits! (although it does look rather tastey)

I use a Rode NTK into a Focusrite Trakmaster - I'm quite pleased with the transparency and detail. The vocals always sit well in the mix, and the sound is quite transparent. The EQ is subtle.

I have an NTK and a Trakmaster - nice combination. It's not right for everything, but then what is? When it's right though, it's quite good.

A little bit more expensive but if you want clean and transparent, the Grace 101 is a great little pre. Works well with a variety of sources.
