Behringer Gear That Works

I have Behringer gear that I bought new in the 90s..It's worked every since ( still works)..I just don't use it much. It's all thru-hole gear ( when Behringer was considered a good company....) SOT..anyone need it?...:D

Okay...that's a new one to me. What's "thru-hole" gear?

I have the cash to get whatever I want and so I have something like 8 different modelers.
I have a two PODs .... the first one and the 2.0 , yes, they're made of metal and I certainly said you don't want to drop the V-Amp . It definitely isn't anything near as well built as the POD.
But IMO , the V-Amp sounds better in most ways. Absolutely a better clean sound and for distortions, the POD has a buzzy quality that you just can't totally get rid of. Of course, these are all matters of taste YMMV, but I very often try to use the POD for something and end up giving up and going to my V-Amp .... or my Rocktron Utopia or one of the 4 different Digitech modelers I have, all of which sound better in most cases than the POD.
I keep trying though ....

of course, the XT and X3 are miles above the 2.0

Getting off track here...I had a 2.0 (the basic kidney bean w/a floorboard). My cat pissed in it and ruined it. I thought it was a cool excuse to get the latest and greatest, so I bought a PODxt Live. You know what? There are sounds I still can't get that I LOVED on my 2.0. There's stuff about the XT that I like too, but I still wish I had my 2.0 (and it's patches).

indeed - there have been requests for some of the 2.0 models to be properly ported to the x series -- however, overall, the quality (imo) is much better than the 2.0....

why they just couldnt port over the models, i dont know...

ADA8000 is probably one of the better pieces of gear that they've made. The converters and pres are on par with all of the other "prosumer" pieces of gear out there. You have to spend 5 times to get something I'd consider to be a step up. (Onyx 800r)

I actually preffered the transparency of the ADA8000 to the onyx pres; less coloured, I thought. Just my humble opinion however, I am sure lots of folks like the mackie's sound. Neither of them are exactly boutique! The ada just seemed to do its thing and stay out the way.

I guess the onyx would still be working if I had bought one though!! mind you I still can buy 3 more behringers or so before I have spent as much!

Ya' want my 2.0?

Hmmm...I'm thinking. I had one killer preset that I'd love to have back, but I'm not sure if I had the 2.0 back in my hands I'd be able to recreate that patch.

If you're serious, shoot me a PM and give me a number...

That's what I understand. And I'm sure that they're far superior to the V-Amp.

well, you can get some great sounds from the v-amp, however, the podxt has many MORE sounds, and more functionality.

better sound quality? Nah, but just not as much to work with.

My behringer briefs and 3/4 boxers hold my junk EXACTLY where I like it.:D

My V-amp pro is doing okay...so far so good.

Also have a virtualizer PRO...another so far so good, though I have not found a usable effect for vocals......

Thru-hole is when the op-amps, etc. are placed thru the circuit board via the pins ( legs) and soldered on the back side. Not SMT ( ontop of circuitboard) via Robotics. Makes the unit more desireable to repair/mod ( for most, that don't have the expertise of SMT technology and tools)..

Cool. Thanks for the info!

I've had a B-1 for a few years and still find that useful.

I've also got a DI20 DI/Splitter. Not much to say about it other than it does the job.

Another shout-out for ADA8000...

I mic my drums through it and send 8 channels via ADAT lightpipe to my VS2480... That also allows me to leave 16 analog channels open on the 2480 instead of tying them up with 8 drum mics :)

Been working like a champ for the past 3 years

(knock on wood) ;)

The FX in the Pod xt are way better than the V-Amp but the amp models in the V-Amp are 100 times better than the XT. The Pods sound like they took the same 3 amp models and changed them slightly to create their so called wide assortment of amps.

I sold my ada8000 and now I wish I didn't..It worked great for adding another 8 in's and out's to my 003r

I have a DI120 too. I didn't even think of it because it does what its supposed to do & doesn't cause me any grief.
Here's a strange one - several years ago I bought an MIC100 "tube" preamp. I don't have much to spend on equipment & this seemed like a goer. It ended up being one of those cheats - the valve adding "warmth" etc. but itwas all i had. It worked well enough. 2 years ago I decided to upgrade to the older Presonus Bluetube pre. Still not expensive gear but a step up for me. Ends up it's a "warmer" too. In that area and signal noise it was no better than the MIC100. I did discover that the Bluetube doesn't work with all my mics, a little under phantom powered for a couple of them. The net result the MIC100 is more flexible, about the same sound quality and CHEAPER!

I agree, and it seems to really tighten up locked to my big Ben.

I've got the Pro XL headphone amp, too. Got it as a present... but it works dandy. Some nice features, too -- like the mono switch, for example.
