HOLY COW!! That's dangerous Mr. schenkerguy.

:D Thanks for the positive comments! We did an "album" of about 10 songs in '95, and then another 10 in about '99 with some better production, recorded on a little VS-840 Roland 8-track.

It really is interesting listening very closely to the original Beatles songs, trying to pick out all the parts. It seems every time I listen I hear something new! Influenced my guitar playing style too and opened up a new world of sounds.

schenkerguy, that is magic stuff. You must be very happy with those!

Ok, here's a couple more Beatles covers for you..

A few friends and I did these around 1995. All we had was a 6 track cassette recorder, a Roland Sound module, one SM-57 mic and an old Alesis "soapdish" reverb.. but I think they sound not too bad.. :o

We called ourselves The Wannabeats...

Should call yourselves The Rutles.....oh yeh that's been done!
Schenk, nice enough but NO BALLS!!
That song (She Loves You) along with "Please Please Me" has got to rate among THE TOP "pop" songs of all time. I dont know whether you've ever done that song "live" but if you ever attempt it then try cranking yer AC30s up to 11 and getting the bass player to kick it......IT GOES ORRRRF!!

Not trying to bag you out man, just making an observation about the performance.

Llarion,

Nice job on one of my favorite Beatles songs. It has a lot going for it. I must agree, however, with tamky's assessment. It just seems a bit too stiff. It sounds to me like the singer is thinking more about singing than he is about the song.

OK, now here's one for you to rip apart. My brother Bob and I recorded this as a gift for our parents. The folks have always dreamed of their musically talented children (a few of us fall into that category) overcoming various factors, such as the geographical distance between us, long enough to perform together.

Bob recorded the instrumental tracks and the "Paul" vocal part at a friend's home studio in Massachusetts on a Roland VS-1680. He sent me a CD with a stereo premix, minus the "John" vocal, which I recorded. Then I created the final mix. (This just to explan the limitations we were working with.)

The folks loved it. I hope you find it at least mildly entertaining.

If I Fell

Don

whoa real nice job with that i like it

huge beatles fan here

Wow, very nice version of If I Fell..!

Excellent guitars too! Impressive!

Ok, keepin' it going!

Here's another one with better production..

I don't have anything that can touch the production value of those previous few!

Whew!

I used to play with a band, many years ago. I embarass myself at how long ago it was. At the time, we called ourselves "The Electric Dogz". We threw a bunch of stuff down to tape that sounded like this.

Here's a blast from the past for y'all,... and I've got a few more similar tunes where this one came from!

Mental note: Gotta record something new.

schenkerguy, I LOVE that song. Fantastic job sir!!. The backing vox kick major butt.
A Reel Person, I bet you guys were cool before electricity came along. :D Record something new.

shenkerguy - fantastic performance on She Loves You... vocal intonation, rhythmic feel of all the parts, and the mix. But shoot that tambourine player. :D Very nice production quality on Anna.

Same here.

Yeah, man! 1991!

Y'know,... Bush 1, Gulf War 1,... etc. What's not to love about 1991? :D

Yeah, I gotta record something new, eh.;) I dig the archival aspects of tape, though! It's all fun to me!

Nice "Do you want to know a secret". Raw recording but everything's there....I'm in love with the back up singer, too.
By the way, there's no link for "Another Girl".

Heh, yeah!

See what happens when I post late at night? Heh. (Link fixed).

If you click on http://www.soundclick.com/davemania & go through the "front door", you'll find the entire songlist of stuff, including the stuff that's direct-linked on this post.

Thanx!! ;)

Dude...I was going through your stuff, and saw Rock Candy...Sweet man....I have always wanted to do this, and just haven't gotten there yet. Excellent job man. I know it's not a Beatles tune, but you smoked it. I really dig this..... :D

Now on to Inna....Sweet again. This sounds very fun. Another I want to bastardize, but haven't gotten to yet. Dude, you are awesome... :D

Thanx Dog!

You're quick on the uptake, eh? ;)

Yeah, I posted numerous Beatles out-takes, which are actually my good takes, heh,... plus numerous Ramones-rock-yer-sox-off-tunes,... but after a while I had to branch out & post some Bowie and other various stuff.

Many of the old guard who've been on this board forever have heard my stuff, but there's plenty of casual lurkers and relative newbies who haven't, and posting stuff outta the archives for an ever-new audience never gets old!

Yeah, Rock Candy,... heh,... that was recorded live, y'know?? We labored over that middle-eight and the turnaround so many times, that I was not sure until that very moment whether we could pull it off! Fortunately enough, we greased it right onto the runway with that one,... 'cause the alternative could've been wildly embarrasing,... or even a total breakdown mid-song,... and we all know that's not good durnig a live set!!

In-a-Gadda-Davida/Sunshine of Your Love turned out as a medely, because the drummer & I were on the In-a-Gadda riff, but the bassist did not know the tune! So, at a quick unannounced cue, I switched gears into Sunshine, if for nothing else than so the bassist wouldn't feel left out! It turned out alright as presented, though, and that's why I posted it!

Thanx again!!
