I thank all for the listen and kind words. What could be cool is if we pick an album and folks could be "assigned" a track to cover. An answer to Dave's (Reel person) Off White Album :D
Yeah, that's a cool idea!
I dunno how I missed this post earlier!?!?!?!
   ;)

I just finished my own version of Come Together. It needs a solo or two, but I am out of time till after the first of the year for this. So, here it is....
Come Together

I haven't been able to listen to many tunes lately but this was one I was looking forward to. I was not disappointed :D You have some really happenin' drums going on there and some chunky guitar rhythms that give this a meaty flavour. Combine with the absolutely cool vocal treatment and you have have a fine recipe going on. As Mr Burns would say "Excellent".....

OK, I've been listening to the Fab Four a bit lately, and I remembered a really neat Beatles tune my father in law and I did, so I thought I'd start a Beatles cover thread! If you have done a Beatles tune, post it here, and tell the story!

My father in law and I are working up a little folk-comedy duo (think Smothers Brothers - meets Gordon Lightfoot or something...), we're gonna do a bunch of bawdy traditional folk songs, and some more current (well, more current than 100 years ago) singer songwriter stuff mixed in.

I arranged this version of In My Life for a compilation CD on another board; my father in law Bob is on the two main guitar parts and the vocals, I'm on bass, the four synthesized string parts, the brief guitar solo, and the aux percussion. It's a much more tender, lush, and delicate arrangement than the stock Beatles one. I like it better from an arranging perspective, but ya can't beat the original in a lot of ways, right?

Anyway, here ya go! Take a listen, post your thoughts, and post your songs!

In My Life - Bob Hicks and Phil Traynor

I always liked this tune - you chose a good one to cover - and you've done it well. The acoustic and strings are really nicely played and blend nicely. The vocals are ok - not the beatles, sure, but I can hear some cool phrasing and inflections that are unique to the person singing - that's always a plus. Great Job and as always a great mix..... :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks, Ido.....I had to do my own version, after playing along with Tim. This was fun, as it was a good test for my DFHS setup. I want to do Helter Skelter next, but a really hard version. I'll see if I can pull it off.....

This is the best thread ever. Thanks guys. All the tunes are awesome. It makes me want to do many more myself.
I never get tired of listening to Beatles covers.

There are some great versions here, too many for me to comment on one at a time at this point. But it's cool how people were able to take already great tunes and put their touch on them.

...

M. Allen: Yeah, it's incredibly loud.
