Hello all,

So here is the next Beatles cover I'm doing for an EP of their stuff. Following the link below will take you to my soundcloud page where i have another cover tune "I'm Only Sleeping", that you can check out too. I hope you all enjoy the way i flipped it into a hitting rock joint ;) All instruments engineered by me at my loft in Brooklyn. This has always been a fave of mine and i tried for a Nirvana-ish type rhythm section and gtr thing. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. Bump it, break it down, tear it apart or whatever tickles your fancy.

Enjoy,
St Christopher

To me, I think that on the whole it's pretty solid.

My only comments are that 1) the kick sounds like it's pumping the mix a shade too much and 2) the vocals dont quite sound... well not as solid and present as the drums do. Not exactly sure what it is, is there a short delay on them, or a chorus or something? It might be that, it's just a bit thin sounding. Or perhaps it's just that I would have it a touch louder in the mix, but would be hardly much at all.

sounds good though, possibly just personal taste i guess. See what the rest of this lot say ;)

I think it's pretty solid too but I'll have to listen on my monitors when I get home. I do LOTS of Beatles covers (my favorite band). I really like that you're putting your own spin on them.

You practically have your own Beatles Sound... strangely fluctuating between the Ramones and the Foo Fighters and something else in my dysfunctional ears... so why not go the whole hog... and write your own?

Hey guys,

thanks for the comments! I'll have to take a listen later and see what i can do about the vox and kick. I do agree that the kick may be a bit loud. There is a little light phaser on the vocal track if that helps. I doubled the lead but didn't strive to get it perfect underneath. I just wanted to lay it down and move on. I'm trying these day's not to focus too much on thing's and over think them. If it feels good then it is good! Also, I've been talking about doing my own record for years now but have always got caught up playing in other people's bands. Hopefully one day i'll get around to my own stuff and again that will equal an albums worth of solid material. Take care my dudes!

Cheers,

Beatles and Dylan on the front page! This is great!

Good cover. I think the vocals need a little more presence. Drums sound pretty good. Guitars are cool, nice voxey sound, I'd even cut back the OD a little more, but really nice!

I really dig this a lot (although I have to admit I really missed the "yeah" backup vocals!) :)

Great interpretation of this song; I like the Nirvana vibe quite a bit. Love how you treated the ending.

The vocals were superb, and the guitars sounded great too. I agree that the kick may be pumping a bit.

I enjoyed this a lot! Great work! :)

Thank you guys for the kind words! I'm getting some nice feedback on this tune so far. I think I'm going to put back in the "yeahs" since that is something people are missing ;) I tracked those but left them out to change it up. I think they are needed to keep it relevant to the original piece. I'm going to fix the kick today and see about adding a little more mid range depth to the vocal and it should be a good final mix. I keep thinking I should turn up the back ground harmonies too. Thoughts? Thanks again!

Cheers,
St C
