Hi everyone,

FMI, anyone tried those 'new' BC Rich basses lately ? I'm talking about their Warlock model, either Platinum or NJ series ? Reason why I ask is that I saw someone complaining on this board about their guitars. I was wondering if their basses are decent ?

It looks cool and I'm going to buy one soon, at least if you tell me it sounds ok. I'm going fot that Kittie sound, I know their female bass player uses one.

I can't really check it out in the store, cause I should order it and then buy it, if I like it or not.

Thanks a lot people !

i hate them.

thier frets suck. thier necks suck. they sound band.

but dddaannnggg they look cool.

now the warlock guitars, i like them, but not the basses. or it just could have been an unsetup bass.

I have an NJ series warlock bass 'bout hmm 10 15 yrs old. It's the only bass I've ever owned. Now let me say that I've seen an NJ warlock a couple years after I got it and it was different. It had a shorter body and only ony pickup. And also I've recently seen some catalog and they just look different, like the body isn't quite right. Sometimes I think I may have gotten lucky with mine.

That said, mine is neck-heavy. Which may not be a problem if you use a pick. I moved one of the strap pegs to a different position, which helped the balance a bit. Other than that the neck is alright with me. Sound is ok to me, but I don't know jack 'bout sound. Mine has EMG select pickups.

My advise to you is if you really want one, try and hunt down a few to try out. If you want a quality bass for the cash, this probably ain't for you.

Well, ironically I was bored at guitar center and decided to try one out. To my surprise it actually played realwell, probably because the neck was straight and the action was set up nicely, someone must have set it up because normally they play terrible.

My point? They have the potential to play good but I never plugged it in and unless I am mistaken, they do not come with active pickups so I belive the sound will be less "scary" then you may want to go with that look.

did you try a p-bass?

im telling you, you cant go wrong with a p-bass, they look cool, i mean hey even if your playing some kind of death-metal, it still looks cool when you get a black one with a black pickguard.....mmmm.......p-bass.........mmmmmmmm..............

ok thanks !

Wow, thanks everyone...

I really thought they just HAD to be good, considering the reputation of the manufacterer. Well, at least I always believed BC Rich made great sounding guitars ?

Damm shame though ! They really LOOK good... But hey, that's not going to impress the audience on a gig when the sound sucks, right ?

So, at this point in time I'm actually thinking of abandonning the idea of getting one.

If anyone has got some other experience I would be happy to hear about it.

Thank you very much to all who replied my post, you guys saved me some good money up to now !
I'll buy you a beer when I run into you guys !

Personally, I really don't like the BC Rich guitars, although I've never tried one of their basses. But, I also think they look especially corny.

^ Well said, i figured i was the only one who though they looked...overdone? I see them everywhere in the nu-metal bands. I played a few of the guitars before and they played/sounded horrible as well, maybe it's just me?
