Battery powered multi-track recorder? Is there such a thing?

Yeah the porta one is cool. I have one as well. I recently brought mine to an outside gig we played in a grassy field. Great for that kind of application because of the battery powered option. The only bad thing I can say about it is: (this is only an observation I've noticed) Many that you will find on ebay and such have a problem with the head transport "locking" in the up position, making it impossible to get your tape out or put another one in if there's not already one in. Mine too gets "stuck" from time to time. What I've done is taken the screws out the bottom so in case this happens I can flip her apart and turn the capstan deal and it "frees" it from being stuck. Now I'm not saying they all do this, I'm only saying I've seen many advertised on ebay with this prob and mine does it too. Besides that, they're great. I can say that since I've replaced the main belt it has done it less or not at all since. I don't use it that much so I can't remember.....????:D

Thanks for the heads up on that. I vaguely remember seeing one on ebay not too long ago that had that problem.
