anyone have any tidbits of knowledge about how the bass on Beatle recordings was done after 1966? I was listening to Abbey Road last night in my studio and it still sounds great. Maybe because I just listened to something of mine, but I'm referring to specifically the mix. The bass is so full, but you can hear every note. I know McCartney didn't always use a Hoffner on record. I think Paperback Writer was a Rickenbacker and maybe the first recording to use a Direct box. Maybe they double tracked. Bass on the first reduction with the drums and rhythm guitar and then added again later on?
