bass vocal mic

I sing bass in a local quartet. My voice lacks the edge or presence I wish it had. I am currently using a Shure BETA 87A which I feel sounds to muddy when worked up close. I would like to pruchase a mic that would not sound muddy when worked up close. I sing at a freq. of about 60Hz to 240Hz. Any recomendations would be appreciated!!!
