sorry for asking something that has probably been said a million times, but when using the search fonction all i get is line6pod and guitar v-amp.

So, anyone can tell me how is the Behringer Bass V-AMP PRO in studio? I have been plugin bass Directly to a dmp3 and am thinking of getting this unit since it's so cheat and could use it as a practicing amp, pluging it strait to my sound card.

Can i shape about any sound from jazz to old school to crazy metal with this?

and is there built in distortion effect?

I've had one for a couple years, use it as a pre for bass and electric guitar, but I bypass the effects and compressor and use outboard stuff (just preference). My old single-channel Rocktron compressor still kicks my ass after all these years...

When I first started out with it, I thought the presets were great--until I started editing and found better stuff. It's a pretty versatile unit but not the end-all be-all; I still go direct through the board about half the time.

There's no "distortion" circuit per se, but you have separate volume and gain and the V-Amp will overdrive fairly well...I don't have a guitar amp, so the V-Amp gets used a lot for some pretty good raunch...(it has some ok guitar presets built in).

For the money I have to say that it's worth it to me, but that's just me... ;)

Oh, and if you got to Talkbass.com your search will reward you with plenty of chatter on the V-Amp...

I had the Bass V-AMP Pro for about 6 months. I didn't feel it was any different than my Line6 Bass Pod, so I just stuck to the bass pod. The Vamp pro is very good at shaping decent sounds and does have an effects section which includes distortion.
