Bass Sample

Hi there,

im recording some tune on me computer using sonar producer 4. Im doing some indie/rock kind of thing but dont have access to a bass guitar, Or cash to buy one.

I was wondering if anyone out there had some single note bass samples i could use or know where i could get some from. Also other alternative would be greatly appreciated.

I remember the ns_j-bass kit. It was a freeware sampled jazz bass that sounded very nice. However, it is no longer offered on the owner's and creator's website, http://www.naturalstudio.co.uk/. I didn't download it because I'm a bassplayer myself and I don't need the samples, but if you search I'm pretty sure you could find them somewhere on the web. A home recording member might be able to get them to you aswell. Very decent stuff to check out.

Steinberg's VB-1 VSTi is freeware. I haven't used it much, so I don't know if it will work for what you want, but it seems to have a lot of features (different pickup patterns, several presets, etc.). It's available here: http://www.espace-cubase.org/anglais/page.php?page=freevsti

Another option is to use the built-in MIDI samples on your computer. You'll have to program the piano-roll for the notes. However, I don't remember what channel to use.
