Holy good fuckin god Nick. Just do what they told you already. Hook the fucking 2 wires from the speaker to a 1/4 plug. Stick into a freakin direct box. Fucking record already. Jeesshhhhh how many fucking ways do they have to re-word it. Sorry but goddamn are you dense or what?

Being 16 years old has given you enough time to learn how to follow instructions. There were several posts that explained EXACTLY what to do. You just kept adding your own nonsense to it and confused yourself.

PS. Fuck you too :p

ok im gonna stop this fight before it gets any worse

thank you .... and have a good day

The explanation is right there in the linked article - the speaker's polarity has been reversed so that it acts like a big microphone.

Yamaha makes this which is based on the same principle.

Ive used these on a few occasions.

Cool to have as a sub kick addition.

But not really a must have IMO.

yeah its definitely not a must have but they do add a little and they are fun to build

i just think its fascinating

i guess im just gonna have to take a wild guess and hope i connect the right terminals because there is no markings on the speaker that inform me of where the negative and postive are

thank you very much

Get two bits of cable and connect it up to the speaker,
get a battery (1.5 volt should do for a small speaker)
put one cable to - and the other cable to + on the battery,
don't leave the cable on to long or you could destroy the speaker
just tap it a couple of times, you will see that the speaker cone
moves in or out, when it moves out the + side of the speaker is
were the + side on the battery is

okay im a dick. if i just get a speaker (previosly in a hifi speaker) and change the + and - wires around will this work? sorry i have looked in so many threads but cant quite find what im asking. and i dont want to damage my speakers too bad :p

Changing the wires around isn't necessary. All it does is invert the polarity. Try it both ways and see what sounds better for your application.

you are not a dick, as with most things it is only easy if you know the answer,
you will not damage your speakers by connecting them round the wrong way,
but they will be out of phase.
Like I said before just get a 1.5 Volt battery, hold one cable on the - side, and tap the other
cable on the + side,
if the speaker moves out, the cable on the + side of the battery is the + terminal of the speaker,
if it moves inwards the cable on the - side of the battery is the + terminal of the speaker,
hope this helps.

Thanks. i managed to figure out which was minus and negative by looking through quite a few other speakers i have put together. So i made one about 10 mins ago. It deffinatly works as a microphone but i dont have time to test it on my bass drum yet but tomorow i will see how well it works.
