here is my story.

I've been a guitar player for 5 years now. We've formed a band 3 years ago, and the more we compose the more it gets hard to play. I started to correct my guitar playing and think it's time for me to learn the real technique on bass too. I can play songs but my fingers (right hand) go crazy when it's time for technique. I wanna play with 3 fingers (right hand again), but can't find real hints on how to achieve perfect technique. my left hand does what i want easily but the right... ouch.

That'ld be great if someone could point me some accurate exercises and find a way to show me how the 3 fingers of my right hand must work. Something like how the right hand should work on scales.

I found a couple of site, but none are really explicite about scales. If someone has a site that shows which finger on which note on a couple of scales (3 finger style, not only two), please send it right here!

I'm still hoping someone can help me figure it out

:D

As a bassist of 22 years, all I can say about developing good fluid right hand finger technique, is PRACTICE. Start with alternating your index and middle fingers on every note untill you don't have to think about purposly alternating them. A good three finger excersise is to play triplets in an "Iron Maiden"-ish galloping style using ring finger, middle finger, index finger. Keep working up your speed in that ring, middle, index fashion and you'll be fluid in no time.(Well, maybe not no time, but in a year or 2) peace......Sal

Check out Jazz bassist Niels-henning Orsted Pedersen. He's a double bass player (upright), not electric, but he uses three fingers which is quite unusual on double bass. He recently passed away, but there are some great videos of him where you can see his technique (especially with Kenny Drew). I don't care for his sound all that much, but he's fun to watch. The three finger thing does wonders for his speed.

I have a friend who plays bass and 5 string banjo, he says the picking style he uses is the same for both. Maybe you could pick up a few tips from a banjo player.
