My future control room has a 7 foot ceiling, currently 5/8" sheetrock, the floor joists are 2"x8". Almost everything I read seems to tell me I need to loose this potential extra space. I do not care a bit about sound levels in the room above, and do not expect sound from above to be a big factor. Does anybody see any logic in false, open or alternated panels, traps or just insulation. The joists run side to side, My room is 11' wide by 17' deep and unfortunately rectangular. By the way, I love this site, its very cool !

Thanks for the response, I think the potential improvement
would be worth more in my situation. I know alot of people need,
or want more containment then me. I have been visiting John's site often, and have found it both helpful and informative, it is an excellent resource ! I know that I may be making a trade off but my studio like most is a study in compromise.

thanks again, Bob
