I'm finally about done fine tuning my studio.i just have one last problem. when i record over dubs, lets say i lay a bass track down then i want to add bass.well when i record my bass.but my softwarer is also rercording the playback of the first track.I have experienced with cep, acid and ardour.I swear i habve eveyrhting hookup right? any suggestions? this is using a audiophile2496 and behringer mixer please help.

Need more info. What's the signal flow from mixer to computer and vice versa?

That's your problem right there. You're sending your monitored signal back into the computer with your new signal. Unfortunately I don't know that mixer's specs so I can't suggest a better routing set-up. I'm sure someone else will come along to help with that.

i certainly hope so, because i tried just hooked one in instaead of the loop but if i do i wont either beable to record or hear playback, someone please help

Well I can look up the specs later, but for now here's one possible solution.

Use an aux send to get the signal from mixer to souncard, and use two channels on your mixer to monitor from. Those are seperate paths.

The mixer should have either "monitor out" or CR (control room) outs that you can plug into. Mine also has a headphone out.
