B&W 602 s1 vs Yorkville YSM-1p (round 1)

Is there anyone who had a chance to compare some B&W 602 series 1 with some yorkville YSM-1p (passive)?

There's someone selling a pair of B&W + nice stands for about 300$ (US). I was wondering if anyone would suggest selling the yorkville and getting the B&W. I have been with the yorkville for now 2 years and I am really outgrowing them. My ear is getting more precise and I would like to get a better pair of monitors.

I used the search forum and I heard Massive Mastering is pro B&W, but then I watched a post where Blue Bear said they where No no compared to studio monitors...

So let the battle begin! (round 1)

(I am asking this to you guys first because it's pretty far to go and listen to these speakers and I don't want to waste 6 hours for nothing...)

I said B&Ws were a no-no compared to studio monitors???? Unlikely - I have B&W 601s as secondaries!!

They are night and day compared to the Yorkvilles in terms of sound... the only downside for the 601s is that they add a bit of gloss to the sound - it's not a problem for me since they're only secondaries, but if you're not used to it, they can make your tracks sound a bit more polished than they actually are!

That's kinda what I think about my York's, they make my stuff sound a little more polished, but that's really the only complaint I have with them, they translate quite well for me once I got used to the low end, which usually sounds great on the York's, but I often have to roll off for the real world.

It's actually kinda nice because when I first play back the mixes for people they usually love the way it sounds.
 
Sorry Bear, I probably just didn't read ALL of the thread and it was out of context (also English is my secondary language, so somethings can get confusing...)

So if I understand, the B&W 602 S1 should be a safe bet as an upgrade, especialy for the price right?
 
IMO, B&W's 600 Series stuff is an amazing value. I agree with Bear also that the Nautilus series tweeters (like those found on the 602's) are very pleasing to listen to, which can make them a little forgiving. You have to get used to them, but they're great sounding speakers for the bucks.

That all being said, I'm more familiar with the S3's - I'm not entirely certain of the sonic differences between the two. Perhaps AudioReview.com might...

According to B&W, the only series that has Nautilus tweeters is the Nautilus line...
 
I research and it seems that the B&W 602 series 1 (which I am going to buy) are going to be equiped with NON nautilus tweeters.
Good, bad? Well see...

My father also has some b&w matrix 802 which sound awsome, but I can't use them in the studio hehe :p

I believe the 602 series 1 will live up to my expectations...

so you guys are giving me a clear YES to replace my yorkville YSM-1p with these B&W huh?
 
Even if they are not equiped with the Nautilus tweeter, should it be a good buy?

I would think so. I've heard some of those and even though the cabinet diffraction makes the tweeter less even than it is in the higher end lines, the trickle down tech makes them good sonding speakers...
