AW4416 - playback probs

Hi folks,
I'm the owner of a secondhand AW4416 with internal CD-RW drive. I switched it on for the first time yesterday and immediately ran into problems. The very first thing I tried to do was play a CD. Eveything works fine, but I cannot get the music to play through my headphones. Any ideas on where I might be going wrong?

I am an AW16g owner, and mine will not act like a regular ol' CD player. The purpose of the CD drive is to back up and restore tracks and to burn finished copies of songs. If you have a CD that you want to make part of a song, there's also a CD ripper utility built in.
